Token2049. Our opinion. A few side events were really well organized and highly professional, with Vault Summit being the standout. The crowd was very institutional, which helped push the level of conversations beyond the usual hype. I didn’t attend any B2C or exchange-focused side events, nor the main event this year, so I didn’t really get exposed to the more speculative side of things. Memecoin or Polymarket discussions, not a single conversation on either topic. The two main themes I wanted to explore were RWA and Agentic AI. RWA conversations were by far the most interesting. Agentic AI discussions, on the other hand, felt too constrained by the Web3 angle, with a noticeable lack of genuine enterprise participation. I’ve had much deeper conversations on these topics outside of TOKEN2049. The Middle East was strongly represented, particularly by banks, issuers, and blockchain infrastructure players. Overall, plenty of follow-ups to work on and some genuinely interesting leads to pursue 🙏

The current euphoria surrounding the AI and semiconductor sectors could be an early warning sign of a market cycle reversal. Since the beginning of the year, several semiconductor stocks have risen sharply, including AMD (+115%), Intel (+141%), Marvell Technology (+148%) and Micron (+227%). European and Asian companies have also benefited, such as STMicroelectronics (+88%), Samsung (+95%) and SK Hynix (+160%). Meanwhile, traditional software companies such as SAP, Capgemini, Accenture and Salesforce have seen their stock prices fall by 30% to 45% over the past six months, partly because investors fear that AI could disrupt their businesses. Cryptocurrencies have also become less attractive. This market rotation could create opportunities in undervalued software companies, cryptocurrencies and international technology stocks, such as Alibaba in China. Although record valuations do not necessarily mean that the AI boom is about to end, investors should remain cautious because these stocks are highly volatile. In early June, the semiconductor index fell by more than 10% in a single day, illustrating how quickly market sentiment can change. Such corrections can also create opportunities for investors to buy at lower prices. SpaceX's reported valuation of $2.8 trillion has also raised concerns, especially given its approximately $5 billion net loss in 2025. By comparison, Microsoft generated $125 billion in profits and Amazon $91 billion, highlighting the gap between the valuations of high-growth companies and the profits generated by established technology giants. To manage these risks, investors can diversify through ETFs, avoid excessive exposure to individual stocks and consider structured products with protective barriers. Overall, the key is to assess whether valuations are justified by future earnings and identify opportunities in sectors and regions that the market may be overlooking.
