Moss: Catching Up Eric Harris-Braun has published a new blog post that brings you up to date on Moss, the groupware app built on Holochain. It has a lot of tools now — not just chat, video calling, kanban, and collaborative docs, but goal planning ( Acorn ), collaborative whiteboarding, event planning, files, secure mail, work party swarming, and even board games. If it's been a while since you've checked out Moss — and if you're tired of having your docs stuck in the cloud (we know you've tried to edit a GDoc on your laptop at 30,000 feet in the air and know the exact pain I'm describing) — give it a try. Holoventures has just published a new paper, Decent Infrastructure in an Authoritarian World. Many of you in Telegram have been following our project from the very beginning. We kicked it off with the Holo Green Paper. Now, nine years later, we have the benefit of hindsight to tell us a couple things: 1. We were spot-on in our diagnosis of where the world was headed — toward increasing capture, extraction, and control. 2. We were absolutely wrong in our estimates of how long it would take us to build an alternative. Facing our delivery challenges has been humbling, but looking at the world today emboldens us to stay stubborn. We're still here, we're still building, and the world needs capture-resistant infrastructure more than ever. Here's what gives us courage now: what we've built is ready. Useful apps are shipping, we have a payment rails engine that doesn't have extraction built in at the base, there's a distributed network ready to deploy — and get paid for — hosting workloads, and Holo Ventures is equipped to support organisations who are ready for something different. Holochain 0.7.0 is finally here. If you've been developing a hApp on the 0.6 line, you'll already have gotten most of the features in 0.7 thanks to our recent habit of aggressive backporting (along with the breaking changes that come with them). But 0.7.0 still has some goodies (and some breaking changes) to offer. * Refactored, slightly more ergonomic data model (comes with an AI coding agent skill to update your hApp for you) * A bootstrap server that includes an iroh relay — fewer services to deploy * Faster, lighter WASM management and execution — 5× speedup in some test scenarios * A new interpreted WASM backend that finally brings iOS support to Holochain!
