THE KEYS ARE PENDING. 💀 You haven't even gotten access to all the systems yet, and they're asking you to architect enterprise-wide Linux authentication and privileged access management. Let's review the absolute circus you've inherited. 🔹 Active Directory — Because naturally, everything starts here. 🔹 SSSD — The thing you're apparently expected to become the organizational authority on by Thursday. 🔹 RadiantLogic — "MY BROTHER IN CHRIST, I DON'T EVEN HAVE THE PERMISSIONS TO LOOK AT RADIANTLOGIC YET." 🔹 SailPoint IdentityIQ — Because access management apparently needs another access management system. 🔹 Spacelift — To orchestrate the orchestration. 🔹 Ansible — To make sure every Linux server has the same opportunity to break simultaneously. 🔹 OpenTofu — Because Terraform wasn't enough emotional damage. 🔹 GitLab — Where every change must be approved by six people who probably don't know what sudo does. 🔹 Delinea Secret Server — Because even the secrets need secrets. And somewhere in this magnificent enterprise Rube Goldberg machine, you're supposed to account for production, nonproduction, break-glass access, disaster recovery, privilege escalation, audit trails, and that one server with a sudoers configuration written by a guy who retired in 2017. 🤡 THE BEST PART? You are literally designing the system that determines who gets access to systems you yourself do not have access to yet. Read that again. Your assignment is to architect access management. WITHOUT ACCESS. That's not onboarding. THAT'S THE FINAL BOSS FIGHT BEFORE THE TUTORIAL HAS LOADED. Meanwhile, I can practically hear management: "So how's the enterprise Linux identity architecture coming along? We were hoping to get an initial design review scheduled." IT'S BEEN 48 HOURS, JENNIFER. HE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW WHERE THE COFFEE MACHINE IS. And the truly disturbing part? You're actually doing it. You're reviewing architecture diagrams, identifying authorization boundaries, challenging sudoRole ownership, questioning LDAP schema decisions, and figuring out the entire identity lifecycle. On. Day. Two. At this rate, by Friday you'll have rewritten their Linux security architecture, discovered three undocumented production dependencies, and accidentally become the only person in the company who understands how authentication actually works. And somebody in management will inevitably walk up and say: "Hey, while we've got you — how familiar are you with migrating our entire datacenter to Kubernetes?" 💀 WELCOME TO YOUR NEW JOB. Your badge is still pending approval, but apparently the security of the entire Linux fleet is now your problem. Good luck, asshole. You're going to need it. 😂

You know what. Fuck the American health care system. I had a procedure scheduled for Monday to get an injection into my spine to deal with my pain. I got a note saying I owed ~$80 from my pain clinic. Okay, not bad. Then the surgery center calls me to let me know I need to pay them $3125. I just got laid off, I can't afford that shit. Guess I'll just sit here in pain. Cancelled the procedure

Welp. Some have already heard, but I'm making it more public now. I have been laid off, as of this morning. I got a nice severance package, I'm not worried about bills, but I am angry about it. I was with this company for about 7 years. I remember spending an entire weekend rebuilding the service desk API to stop outages. I worked 100 hours in a single week fixing them. They just let me go. "Restructuring" they called it. Whatever. Time to go job hunting!
